Protecting Your Future Spouse And Family: Insurance That You Need

If you are getting married and you know that the two of you want kids right away, sitting down with an insurance agent before you get married is important. If you are one of the millions of people that don't have life insurance, or that don't have adequate life insurance, you need to get serious and be prepared.

Not only do you do need to have life insurance to cover all of the basic expenses that can arise when someone dies, but there are other policies you may want as well. Here are a few things to consider.

Life Insurance

You need to have life insurance to cover not only funeral expenses, but also debts that you and your future spouse may accumulate throughout a marriage. Going down to one income or losing the only income you have would be life altering, and life insurance can help avoid this stress. Your agent can talk with you about getting enough to cover a mortgage, student loans or other debts you have, to ensure that either one of you don't struggle if there is an unexpected emergency .

Unemployment Insurance

If one of you decides to stay at home with the kids and the other loses their job, or if you depend on two incomes and an income is lost, unemployment insurance can make a big difference in how you get through that hard time. If you have insurance to replace your income, or to supplement what you lost until you can get a new job, things are going to be much easier on the family financially and mentally. Talk with the agent about unemployment insurance.

Trusts

If you know you are going to have a child or two, you can set up trusts in advance for these children. This is money that they will get if something happens to the both of you. Unfortunately, something could happen that would cause both of you to pass, and the trust would be a safe place for the life insurance or other funds you leave behind.

Talk with an insurance agent (like those at Wyoming Financial Insurance) about all of these different things so you can get your policy in place before you get ready to walk down the aisle, and you'll be able to relax knowing that your family is going to be protected and covered if you lose your job, or if something happens to you and you can't provide.
